Itinerary

• Day 1
  Arrival in Kota Kinabalu, known as "KK" to the locals and the capital city of the state of Sabah, Malaysia, your gateway to Borneo. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. (Overnight Kota Kinabalu - Magellan Resort)
• Day 2
  Early morning flight to Sandakan. Depart by boat to Selingan Island ("Turtle Island"). Upon arrival lunch will be served. You have the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure for swimming in the clear water, walk on the white sandy beach, bird watching or simply relaxing. Sometime after dinner you will be summoned by the park ranger to witness one of natures wonders. (Overnight Selingan Lodge - Includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 3
  Early morning boat to Sandakan and transfer to the world famous Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary and come in close contact with the remarkable "man of the forest". Afterwards depart for the 2-hour overland journey to Sukau in search of the bizarre Proboscis monkey. (Overnight Proboscis Lodge Sukau - Includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 4
  Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Early morning cruise up the misty Kinabatangan River to Kelananap oxbow lake in search of more wildlife.You will enjoy a jungle walk around the lake before returning for breakfast at the lodge. This afternoon you will depart on a cruise along the river in search of wild orangutans. (Overnight Proboscis Lodge Sukau - Includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 5
  You will depart the Proboscis Sukau Lodge at 6:30am for the 2-hour overland journey to town of Lahad Datu and the 2-hour rough jungle drive through Danun Valley to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. After lunch you will be taken on a brief nature walk with your guide to learn the dynamics of the rainforest. After dinner, you will experience an exciting night drive. (Overnight Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Includes: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 6
  Early morning walk on the nature trail, suspension bridge and observation platform with experienced guide. You have your choice of jungle treks with guides, "tubing in the river, or simply enjoying the lodge. After dinner, depart for night safaris. (Overnight Borneo Rainforest Lodge - Includes: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 7
  Early morning guided walk, on the "Coffin Trail", that leads to an ancient burial site. Afterwards, depart for the drive to Lahad Datu and the afternoon flight to "KK. (Overnight Kota Kinabalu - Magellan Resort - Includes: Breakfast)
• Day 8
  After breakfast, pack your island bag with your swimwear, suntan lotion and camera. You will board a boat for a 20-minute ride across the South China Sea to beautiful Sapi Island. On this small island you can swim in the warm water, snorkel to view the colorful fish and coral life, take a short nature walk or just relax on the beach. Boat returns in late afternoon. Dinner in the evening at Kampung Nelayan with cultural show. (Overnight Kota Kinabalu - Pacific Sutera Includes: Breakfast and Lunch)
• Day 9
  Morning flight to Kuching. Overview city tour, afterwards visit the Sarawak Cultural Village. This living museum portrays and conserves the unique myriad of various cultural and customs of Borneo. Dinner at a local home with a Sarawakian family. (Overnight Kuching - Hilton, includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 10
  Depart Kuching for a fascinating and educational overland trip to Batang Ai. Along the way you will pass small villages and settlements, roadside fruit stands, rice fields, rubber plantations and people going about their unhurried, simple, everyday life. Afternoon arrival at Lake Batang Ai where a boat will transport you across the lake and upriver to the Longhouse Resort. (Overnight Batang Ai - Hilton Longhouse Resort, includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 11
  Morning departure by wooden longboat for the upriver journey to Wong Tibu situated in the Iban heartland. You witness along the banks native farmers knee deep in rice fields, small boats carrying supplies from town to villages and unusual birds and hawks overhead in a sky that spans the horizon. Your unforgettable day is spent with the people of the longhouse. (Overnight Batang Ai - Hilton Longhouse Resort, includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 12
  This morning you depart Batang Ai for the journey back to Kuching and the Matang Wildlife Centre. The Matang Wildlife Centre is the spot to see orangutans, up close in a natural setting. Kids will enjoy the feeling of holding a baby orangutan (like a slightly orange little sister or brother. The Wildlife Centre also has rock pools and waterfalls, nature trails, picnic area and swimming spot. Dinner at an excellent seafood restaurant. (Overnight Kuching - Hilton, includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
• Day 13
  Early morning departure for Bako National Park. The various types of animals spotted at Bako include proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, long tail macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards and numerous birds. Tropical rainforest ranges from mangrove to kerangas (heath forest), tropical swamp vegetation, cliff vegetation and beach vegetation. There will be hiking through jungle trails and swimming in the sea by secluded beaches. Return to Kuching by mid-afternoon. Schedule is dependent on water tide. • Day 14
  Airport transfer
